Final Proposal

Aims
The aim of my documentary is to give a reason why Graphics is a niche subject and why student do not tend to consider them when they go into further education. Throughout this documentary I will try as give graphics the credit it deserves as all the designed products in this world requires creativity skills, drawing skills & research skills which Graphics as a subject gives to the students who take it as part of their curriculum. Through this documentary I will be trying to change the parents' views mostly but as this is aimed at the teenagers of ages 16-27 they will understand why it is a good subject to choose as a career path. Also through the course of this documentary I aim to get all the information I can to show why it is a niche subject and that it needs more pupils joining it subjects to keep the product ideas and creativity growing throughout the UK.

Content
The constant that my documentary will include is from very reliable sources such as the Telegraph. I have also ensured that my statistics are accurate and I am getting them from reliable sources and sources which people mainly use. I have also got information from schools as they are a good source for requirements for the graphics subject as a whole. Not only will I use information from the news and schools but I am getting direct statement from the government and from both parties to have a balance in my documentary. They maybe for or against that Graphics is a niche subject. Also as Nicky Morgan said the statement on Art not being a worthy subject I will be asking both Conservatives and Liberal Democrats their opinion on the statement and asking them to give their opinion on the matter. Also to make the documentary not just E-Mails and Images I will be interviewing a few professors and teachers that teach graphics is Universities and Schools to get their opinion on the topic question. I will be asking 5 Key questions which I have devised for them to answer. These questions can be found at here

Target Audience:
The target audience which was given at the start of this project was 16-27 which I am aiming my Graphics Documentary to get through to. Also the documentary will mainly be aimed at people who are currently in higher education and going onto further education this age group being 16 - 18 as they can chose Graphics if they wanted to carry it onto further education. The target audience correlates directly with the documentary as it will include teenagers and people that go to University so my target audience can relate to them. Also 100s of thousands of pupils are in education and it will appeal to them as they will reach a point in their lives where Graphics is available to them as a subject to pick to take part of higher or further education.

Format:
The documentary will be a participatory / interactive mode related documentary because I will be doing a series of challenges against a person who has never done graphics to seer why they will or will not take graphics for GCSE or A-Level. The experiment will show whether they like it or not. And possibly we could include a graph which shows the percentage of people who want to take graphics or not. Also I will be showing all the evidence I have towards this topic title while I am interviewing people who have a career path in Graphics or Art.

Genre:
The genre of this project would be a documentary. This video will show people why Graphics is a niche subject and what it is considered as a subject when taking it or what others' views are. The aim of this documentary is to see if there are an improvements of pupils taking Graphics as a subject and to see what elements are repelling students from taking a subject that will open a lot of doors for people career wise. The documentary will be engaging to watch as I will not be just talking ad talking for a numerous length of time. I will ensure that it appeals to my target audience and that they will not get bored of watching the video. I will ensure this by putting various types of people and maybe try and put in some vox pops to see what people's opinions are on this topic.

Style:
The style of my documentary is very important as I need to be thinking about the amount of information I want to put into my documentary but ensure my Target audience are watching and not drifting off. By doing this I will have graphic overlays that look professional and quite colourful to correlate with the topic, Use voice overs which will guide them through the video (Voice of God), use music that may appeal to the target audience (After permission for use), use editing techniques that makes the documentary simple and fast so there will be no point where the documentary is slow paced as it will be cutting to shots constantly. I will use places that look great and that relate to graphics such as London where they have a graffiti corner which I could use for the establishing shot of the documentary. Also the camera shots and angles will ensure that it is unique; for example I could use a shot where the camera is on the ground and you can see just people walking etc.
